The proven 710 engine used in the WDG4 (GT46MAC) freight locomotives and the WDP4 (GT46PAC) passenger locomotives built in India can be upgraded with the latest technologies from EMD.

These changes would provide a major reduction in fuel costs while also simultaneously reducing oil consumption and emissions.

New locomotive models designed by EMD for Indian Railways will also take full advantage of these technology innovations to improve fuel efficiency.
