Routing and Shipping Guide - USA Operations
(Effective July 1, 2010)

  Packaging
All freight must be packaged, marked and labeled, in accordance with the latest EMD Packaging Requirements Instruction Guide, Please be sure to observe the following:

  • Do not mix freight being shipped to different Lagrange receiving docks (G, H, or N) on the same pallet.  The EMD purchase order will specify the designated receiving dock. If the dock is not specified on the purchase order please contact your EMD ISC Procurement Team Contact (Supplier Planner).
  • If your material is not to be double stacked, please refer to the latest edition of the National Motor Freight Classification manual for proper marking and labeling instructions, and note on your bill of lading:  "Do not stack".

  Bill of Lading Preparation
In order to insure that all shipments are properly delivered and accurately billed, please note the following:

  • Combine daily material shipments with different EMD dock designations on one bill of lading. Do not make daily shipments to the EMD locations on separate bills of lading. Failure to do so will cause excessive transportation charges.
  • EMD purchase order(s) must be clearly shown on the bill of lading
  • In bill of lading Routing section document - "routed per Landstar Global Logistics #__________"
  • Show carrier name as advised by Landstar
  • In body of the bill of lading note:
  • Carrier Freight Bill to be sent to:
    Landstar Global Logistics 13410
    Sutton Park Avenue South
    Jacksonville, FL. 32224

When the Freight (INCO) Terms shown on the purchase order indicate that EMD is responsible for the freight costs and the material is being sent to an EMD location, mark the bill of lading "Collect". If the material is being sent to a NON - EMD location consign the bill of Lading must be consigned to "Electro-Motive Diesel, Inc." in care of the non EMD Location marked "Collect Third Party Billing".

Prepayment and invoicing of freight charges to EMD is not allowed on any shipments without prior written approval from an EMD ISC Procurement Team Member.

  • Do not insure or show a released value on the bill of lading, unless specifically instructed to do so in writing by EMD.
  • Do not ship C.O.D. to EMD; we will refuse the freight at our dock and instruct the carrier to return it to the supplier at their expense.
