DORBYL
AND GENERAL MOTORS TIE UP
AN AGREEMENT FOR REMANUFACTURE AND
REPAIR OF DIESEL ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVES

(LaGrange, IL, May 17, 2001) -
RSD ( a division of Dorbyl Ltd) at Boksburg, Gauteng, South
Africa, and the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors recently
announced the signing of an agreement that enables RSD to act as
a licensee of EMD for the remanufacture and repair of diesel electric
locomotives and their components. This work will be carried out
in RSD's Boksburg works to the latest available information and
standards utilised by EMD in their design, development and production
of diesel electric locomotives.
Don Riach, EMD's Director for Worldwide Sales stated: "Concluding
this agreement with Dorbyl is fully consistent with EMD's strategy
to provide improved after-sales service and support to its customers.
We see GM's proven technology combined with Dorbyl's manufacturing
and engineering expertise as a win-win combination for GM customers
in Southern Africa."
EMD's existing sales representative structure remains unchanged
by this agreement. Thus Sibambhene Trade & Services will still be
the point of contact for new locomotives and parts sales in South
Africa.
