--- is introduced in the United States.

of the 50,000th GM powered locomotive.

EMD introduces a new 710 engine and the 60 Series microprocessor
controlled locomotive.

Today, March 27th, we mark our 50th anniversary
celebrating our LaGrange plant ground breaking ceremony of March
27, 1935.

A new concept and a new business is born ---
Contract Maintenance.
EMD agrees to lease locomotive "Power-By-The-Hour"
to the Burlington Northern Railroad and be responsible for
locomotive performance and maintenance.

Another new opportunity and another new business.
EMD begins leasing locomotives to the U.S. railroads as a means
to help our valued customers meet peak traffic volume demands.

General Motors consolidates its Electro-Motive
locomotive assembly operations with GM Diesel Division of Canada.
EMD creates a worldwide distributor network to market and
service EMD non-rail products.

EMD marks the 50th anniversary of the historic
FT103 demonstration tour.
