EMD again revolutionizes locomotive power by developing a
new prototype 60 Series locomotive equipped with AC traction
technology.
Electro-Motive, in conjunction with the Burlington Northern,
begins extensive revenue service testing of 4 SD60MAC locomotives
in heavy haul operations. This new SD60MAC delivers higher
starting and tractive effort, and most importantly, increased
reliability.
In December, EMD delivers the final locomotive of an order for
30 F40PHM-2 units to METRA. This is the last unit assembled
at the McCook plant.

| 1993 |
After extensive testing of the SD60MACs on the Burlington
Northern, the railroad places the largest ever single order
for 350 of the new technology SD70MAC locomotives, equipped
with AC traction technology and a new radial (self steering)
bogie.
EMD initiates an extensive tour throughout the U.S. and
Canada to demonstrate a revolutionary economic breakthrough
in AC traction technology. In heavy haul
operations, 3 SD60MACs demonstrate day in and day out that
they can replace five 3,000 horsepower DC locomotives.

A new passenger locomotive is introduced to the industry.
Our sleek new F59PHI locomotive features the industry¹s
most technologically advanced engine, traction and control
systems. With an enhanced Whisper Cab to keep sound and vibration
levels low, this is one of the most environmentally friendly
locomotives available.
In December, the Union Pacific Railroad places an order
for 25 new 6,000 hp SD90MAC locomotives and 75 SD90MAC/43
4,300 hp locomotives.

| 1995 |
Long Island Railroad orders 46 new technology 3,000 hp AC
technology passenger locomotives. Half of these units will
be equipped with dual-mode capabilities to operate as diesel-electric
or electric only.
EMD designs and develops the first International AC technology
locomotive. The Indian State Railways places the first order
for this new locomotive.

EMD enters into a marketing alliance with Caterpillar and
MPI to design, market, sell and manufacture a new low horsepower
branchline and switching locomotive.
EW&S of Great Britain awards EMD its first order for
High Speed passenger locomotives. These locomotives will be
designed and manufactured in conjunction with our Overseas
Associate --- Alstom.
Queensland Railroad in Australia places an order with us
for the first ever narrow gauge AC locomotives. These units
will be locally manufactured by Clyde Engineering, our Australian
Associate.
EMD's new SD90MAC locomotive, powered by a new EMD 4-stroke
6,000 horsepower H-engine, is delivered to the Union Pacific
Railroad.
