Frans Zoetmulder Joins Electro-Motive Diesels, Inc as Regional Director of Sales for Europe
Mr. Albert Enste, Vice President and General Manager – International Business of Electro-Motive Diesel, Inc. USA (EMD) announced today that Mr. Frans Zoetmulder has joined EMD as Regional Director of Sales for Europe. Zoetmulder will be responsible for the sale of diesel locomotives in Continental Europe and will be based in the Netherlands.
Zoetmulder worked for many years in different capacities for the Royal Nedlloyd Group with postings in Hong Kong and Singapore, to name just two. He was CCO and COO of NWM BV, one of the oldest Dutch intermodal companies in Europe, Commercial Director EMEA at Hoyer-Odfjell, and for the last six years CEO of ERS Railways and European Rail Shuttle, the largest independent railway company and operator in Holland. Albert Enste stresses, “I am excited about Frans heading up our sales efforts in Europe, knowing that this will enable us to better serve our customers in this important region.”
The number of EMD-powered locomotives delivered to customers in Europe climbed to more than 600 since the year 2000. EMD’s famous locomotive model sold in Continental Europe, the United Kingdom, and Scandinavia is the called the Class 66.
Frans Zoetmulder commented, “Coming from ‘the other side of the tracks’ as a demanding customer of EMD, I know exactly what the customer requires and desires. Now it will be my opportunity to use this knowledge to help further develop the market for EMD locomotives in Europe and to serve current customers better.”
